A deck focused on lifegain strategies, such as Orzhov or Aristocrats decks in Magic: the Gathering, would benefit from including Epicure of Blood as it provides additional value by draining life from opponents whenever you gain life. While Epicure of Blood can be a strong inclusion in such decks, there are potentially better cards like Sanguine Bond or Vito, Thorn of the Dusk Rose that offer more impactful lifegain synergies. However, Epicure of Blood can still be a solid choice in the right deck and could see play as a supplemental card for its incremental life drain effect.

In a Two-Headed Giant game, life gained by your teammate won’t cause the ability to trigger, even though it caused your team’s life total to increase.

The ability of Epicure of Blood triggers just once for each life-gaining event, whether it’s 1 life from Impassioned Orator or 4 life from Dawning Angel. If you gain an amount of life “for each” of something or “equal to the number” of something, that life is gained as one event and the ability of Epicure of Blood triggers only once.
