A control deck focused on removal and disruption would benefit from using Helvault, as it provides a versatile way to exile both your own creatures for protection or opponent's creatures for removal. However, there are better options available such as Teferi, Time Raveler or Teferi, Hero of Dominaria which offer more consistent and powerful effects in control decks, making Helvault less likely to see play in competitive settings.

Helvault’s first and third abilities are linked. Similarly, Helvault’s second and third abilities are linked. Only cards exiled as a result of Helvault’s first or second abilities will be returned to the battlefield by its third ability.
