However, there are better alternatives such as Claustrophobia, which taps the creature as soon as it enters the battlefield, making it more effective at controlling threats. While Narcolepsy could see play in certain situations, it may not be the optimal choice compared to other options available in Magic: the Gathering.

Narcolepsy’s triggered ability has an “intervening ‘if’ clause.” That means (1) the ability triggers only if the enchanted creature is untapped as any player’s upkeep begins, and (2) the ability does nothing if the enchanted creature is already tapped by the time it resolves.
