However, there are better cards that provide similar effects more efficiently, such as Chandra, Pyromaster or Light Up the Stage, which offer card advantage without the need for discarding. Overall, Whiskerquill Scribe may not see much play in competitive Magic: the Gathering decks due to more efficient options available.
