Defiant Ogre would be a great fit in a red aggressive deck looking to have some flexibility with artifact removal while also having a potential boost in power. However, in a competitive Magic: The Gathering environment, there are likely better options for both creature power and artifact removal, such as Goblin Chainwhirler for a similar mana cost or more versatile removal spells like Abrade. While Defiant Ogre has its niche uses, it may not see widespread play in highly optimized decks.

You choose which mode you’re using as you put the ability on the stack, after the creature has entered the battlefield. Once you’ve chosen a mode, you can’t change that mode even if the creature leaves the battlefield in response to that ability.
