Doc Samson, Super Psychiatrist fits best in a green-based +1/+1 counter or “counters-matter” Commander deck—especially alongside planeswalkers, charge counters, shield counters, or proliferate strategies—since he effectively doubles down on any counter placement by adding an extra of each kind, making him excellent with cards like Hardened Scales, Doubling Season, Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider, and The Ozolith; he also synergizes with hydras, modular creatures, and planeswalker-heavy “superfriends” builds where the extra loyalty counters are impactful. However, at five mana and requiring a tap to generate mana equal to his power, he’s somewhat slow and vulnerable, and cards like Doubling Season or Vorinclex are generally stronger because they double counters outright (not just add one extra) and don’t rely on tapping or creature survival; Hardened Scales is also more efficient at one mana, though narrower.
