However, there are better options like Lightning Bolt or Lightning Helix which offer more versatility and efficiency in terms of cost and damage output. Burning Oil could still see play in a budget deck or as a sideboard option against creature-heavy strategies.

The converted mana cost of the spell is determined only by its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast the spell was.
