While it can provide value upon death, there are more efficient cards like Hangarback Walker or Arcbound Ravager that offer similar benefits. However, in a deck looking to synergize with sacrifice effects or +1/+1 counter strategies, Sparring Construct could find a place, especially in a budget or casual setting.

If another creature is dealt lethal damage at the same time as Sparring Construct, Sparring Construct’s ability can’t put a +1/+1 counter on the other creature in time to save it.
