A control deck in Magic: the Gathering would greatly benefit from including Sphinx of the Final Word in its strategy, as it provides protection against counterspells and removal spells, allowing the player to establish and maintain board control more effectively. While there may be other powerful options available, such as Teferi, Time Raveler or Narset, Parter of Veils, Sphinx of the Final Word's unique combination of abilities makes it a strong contender for inclusion in the deck. Ultimately, whether or not it should see play depends on the specific meta and strategy of the deck, but it certainly has the potential to be a valuable addition.

A spell that can’t be countered can still be targeted by spells or abilities that would counter it. The part of their effect that would counter the spell won’t do anything, but any other effects those spells or abilities may have will still happen, if applicable.
