The Howling Commandos would fit best in a go‑wide mono‑white or white‑based Soldiers/tribal aggro deck, especially one that produces lots of creature tokens and wants late‑game mana sinks to push through stalled boards. Its activated ability rewards having many creatures and particularly Soldiers, making it strongest in casual or Commander builds that can generate substantial mana and board presence; however, paying 5 mana for only +1/+1 and vigilance until end of turn is quite inefficient compared to stronger anthem or overrun effects.
