While it can be a powerful tool to force the opponent to discard cards, the downside of sacrificing lands can be significant in certain matchups. There are better cards for discard effects, such as Thoughtseize or Inquisition of Kozilek, which provide more immediate and efficient disruption without the drawback of sacrificing lands. Overall, Bog Down may not see much play in competitive decks due to its high cost and potential downside.
