“Definitely Not a Turtle” would fit best in a midrange or Commander deck built around Turtles, legendary permanents, or graveyard value, especially one that can reliably sacrifice its own creatures to trigger the death ability (for example, in Sultai or Simic shells with sacrifice outlets or recursion). The card provides card selection and replaces itself with either a land (helping hit land drops) or a key legendary Turtle, making it more appealing in tribal or legend-focused builds than in generic competitive decks. However, compared to stronger value creatures like **Eternal Witness** (which guarantees any card back), **Elvish Visionary** (cheap card draw), or even **Solemn Simulacrum** (which ramps and draws on death), this card is narrower and less efficient unless your deck heavily supports Turtles or legends.
