Esgaroth Garrison belongs in a mono-white or Boros go-wide Humans/Soldiers deck, especially Commander builds that want a creature-count payoff and enough token production to make its variable power meaningful; recruit also supports discard or reanimation synergies, though at five mana it is slow for an effect that only replaces itself and sometimes makes one token. `Adeline, Resplendent Cathar` is generally the better card: for `2W` she has the same scaling power, higher reliability, and makes a Human token every time you attack, while `Myrel, Shield of Argive` is a stronger five-mana Soldiers payoff because she protects your turn and produces a token army. Esgaroth Garrison is playable as a thematic, casual Humans/Soldiers inclusion or a budget redundancy piece, but it is unlikely to merit play in optimized lists where cheaper threats and repeatable token makers outperform it.
