Gristle Glutton would fit best in a Rakdos (black-red) or mono-red deck that actively benefits from discard and -1/-1 counter synergies—such as madness, reanimator, aristocrats, or decks that want creatures to die for value—because it turns excess cards into selection while enabling graveyard strategies and death triggers; however, the need to put a -1/-1 counter on your own creature makes it inefficient unless you’re specifically exploiting counter synergies (like with persist creatures, undying interactions, or counter-manipulation effects), and compared to stronger loot engines like **Faithless Looting**, **Fable of the Mirror-Breaker**, **Seasoned Pyromancer**, or even **Smuggler’s Copter**, this card is significantly weaker due to the tap requirement, self-inflicted board cost, and lack of immediate impact, so outside of a very niche synergy deck it likely would not see competitive play.
