However, there are arguably better options for similar roles, such as Wall of Omens, which provides card draw alongside its defensive capabilities without the drawback of sacrificing itself. While Phantasmal Abomination can see play in specific builds that can effectively shield it from removal, its vulnerability to targeted spells makes it less reliable compared to other defensive creatures that offer additional value.

Phantasmal Abomination’s ability will resolve (causing it to be sacrificed) first. Unless the spell or ability has another target, it will then be countered when it tries to resolve for having no legal targets.
