Precise Redaction would mainly benefit blue control or tempo decks—especially Azorius, Dimir, or mono-blue lists—as a sideboard card in a metagame dominated by powerful white and/or black spells, since it efficiently counters creatures and noncreature spells alike for only \(1U\). However, its restriction makes it unreliable in a diverse field and potentially a dead card in many matchups, so it generally should not see maindeck play. Broader options are usually better: Counterspell is superior if your mana base supports \(UU\), while Make Disappear, Sinister Sabotage, or other flexible counters are more dependable; Negate or Essence Scatter may also be preferable when you specifically want to answer noncreature or creature spells. Precise Redaction is worth sideboard consideration only when white and black spells are especially prevalent and the format lacks better color-specific answers.
