Primary Research would fit best in a white-based midrange or graveyard-recursion deck—especially Orzhov (white-black) or Abzan shells—that can consistently stock the graveyard and recur efficient low-cost permanents like value creatures, cheap planeswalkers, or utility artifacts/enchantments (e.g., Spirited Companion–style draw creatures, cheap removal permanents, or sacrifice pieces). It pairs well with self-mill, looting, or sacrifice strategies that ensure a card leaves your graveyard each turn to reliably trigger the end-step draw. However, at five mana (4W), it’s fairly slow for competitive formats; cards like Sun Titan (repeatable recursion with a bigger body), Serra Paragon (ongoing value from the graveyard), Lurrus of the Dream-Den (in older formats), or even Sevinne’s Reclamation often provide stronger or more immediate impact. In faster formats this likely wouldn’t see play due to its cost and lack of immediate board presence beyond a small reanimation, but it could be reason
