Puca’s Covenant would fit best in a **+1/+1 counter–focused midrange or aristocrats-style deck**, especially in Commander, where creatures regularly accumulate multiple counters (via evolve, adapt, modular, proliferate, or cards like Hardened Scales and Branching Evolution) and can be sacrificed for value; in such shells, it turns large counter-stacked creatures into delayed recursion engines, letting you rebuy key permanents after a board wipe or sacrifice. It synergizes particularly well with sacrifice outlets (Viscera Seer, Ashnod’s Altar), modular creatures, undying/persist creatures, or counter-doubling effects to maximize the mana value you can return. However, it’s somewhat slow and conditional (needs counters, needs death, once per turn, returns to hand not battlefield), so in many formats there are stronger or more efficient recursion options such as Meren of Clan Nel Toth (repeatable battlefield recursion), The Ozolith (counter retention), Agadeem’s Awakening, or Eternal Witn
