Putrid Hexhag (1B) fits best in a black-based counters deck—especially one built around -1/-1 counters, +1/+1 counter manipulation, or proliferate—where you can repeatedly place counters on your own creature to spread its “perpetually” death-trigger curse across multiple opposing threats, making it strongest in grindy, attrition-focused formats like Alchemy where perpetual effects exist; it synergizes well with cards that efficiently place counters (e.g., proliferate engines or repeatable counter sources) so you can stack the effect across an opponent’s board and tax them over time.
