However, in competitive play, there are more efficient life gain cards such as Sphinx's Revelation or Baneslayer Angel that provide immediate value without the drawback of losing life when the enchantment leaves the battlefield, making them better choices overall. Illusions of Grandeur could see play in more casual or themed decks looking for a unique and nostalgic card to include.
