The Riverwheel Aerialists card would be beneficial in a blue-based control deck that focuses on casting a lot of noncreature spells to trigger its prowess ability and pump up its power. However, there are better options available, such as Stormwing Entity, which offers a similar effect but at a lower cost and with additional abilities like scrying. While Riverwheel Aerialists could see play in more casual or budget decks, competitive players may opt for more efficient options.

Any spell you cast that doesn’t have the type creature will cause prowess to trigger. If a spell has multiple types, and one of those types is creature (such as an artifact creature), casting it won’t cause prowess to trigger. Playing a land also won’t cause prowess to trigger.

Once it triggers, prowess isn’t connected to the spell that caused it to trigger. If that spell is countered, prowess will still resolve.
