A deck that benefits from Bolas's Citadel would be a deck with a focus on high-cost spells and a way to gain life to offset the life payment for casting spells. Decks that can generate a lot of mana quickly or have ways to gain life easily would make good use of this card. While Bolas's Citadel is a powerful card, there are better alternatives like Aetherflux Reservoir for life gain and card advantage, or Future Sight for card advantage without the life payment, making it a situational choice in certain deck archetypes.
