While Prismwake Merrow offers versatility, there are potentially better options like Vedalken Shackles which can permanently steal opposing creatures or Reality Shift which exiles a creature and replaces it with a random card from its controller's library. However, Prismwake Merrow could still see play in certain metagames or strategies that require color manipulation for a specific purpose.
