A deck focused on aggressive strategies and creature combat, such as a Green Stompy deck, would benefit from including Heartwood Shard as it provides a way to give trample to key creatures, helping to push through damage and close out games faster. While there may be better options available, such as Rancor which provides a permanent trample effect, Heartwood Shard could still see play in certain metagames or budget decks where its versatility and mana cost are more favorable.
