Magus of the Chains would benefit a control or disruption deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's card advantage by forcing them to discard or mill cards instead of drawing. While Magus of the Chains can be effective in certain situations, there are better cards like Narset, Parter of Veils or Teferi, Time Raveler that provide more consistent and powerful card advantage disruption. Magus of the Chains may see play in niche strategies, but overall, there are stronger options available for this type of effect in Magic: the Gathering.
