Unholy Fiend could be beneficial in a deck that focuses on utilizing life loss as a resource, such as a black-red aggro or sacrifice deck. However, there are potentially better cards like Vampire Lacerator or Carnophage that offer similar effects without the drawback of losing life each turn. Unholy Fiend may not see much play in competitive decks due to its self-damaging ability, but could still be fun to experiment with in more casual or themed decks.
