**Retro-Mutation** is best suited for a blue tempo or control deck that wants cheap, instant-speed removal to neutralize a threatening creature while keeping mana open for counterspells; it’s especially useful against Voltron commanders, indestructible threats, or creatures with powerful static or activated abilities, since it strips abilities and shrinks the creature to an irrelevant 0/1 body.
