Saurian Explorer would mainly benefit a casual green landfall, ramp, or Dinosaur deck that can play multiple lands per turn and use its large mana sink to generate long-game value, but its `{6}` ability is extremely expensive for a tapped land token and does not immediately affect the board, while the landfall bonus is only temporary; unless it has unusually strong power/toughness or additional abilities, it is unlikely to see competitive play and would probably be a lower-priority inclusion even in Commander. Better options include `Tireless Tracker` for repeatable card advantage, `Scute Swarm` for explosive landfall token production, `Avenger of Zendikar` for a powerful finisher, `Ancient Greenwarden` for doubling landfall value, and `Dryad of the Ilysian Grove` or `Exploration` for enabling more land drops; Saurian Explorer is playable as a flavorful budget or casual Dinosaur choice, but these alternatives are generally stronger and more efficient.
