A deck that benefits from fast mana acceleration and color fixing, such as aggressive red-white decks or decks with a low curve that can afford the life loss, would find Battlefield Forge useful. While there are better dual lands available in formats like Modern or Commander, such as Sacred Foundry or Clifftop Retreat, Battlefield Forge can still see play in budget or aggressive decks where the life loss is acceptable for the mana fixing it provides.
