Selective Snare would be beneficial in a creature-heavy tribal deck where you can easily target multiple creatures of the same creature type to return them to your opponent's hand. However, a more versatile option could be Cyclonic Rift, which can target any nonland permanent while also having the potential to overload for a mass bounce effect. Selective Snare may still see play in specific tribal strategies, but Cyclonic Rift offers more utility and is typically considered a stronger card for broader use.

To choose a creature type, you must choose an existing creature type, such as Vampire or Knight. You can’t choose multiple creature types, such as “Vampire Knight,” but choosing “Vampire” is enough to allow you to target a Vampire Knight. Card types such as artifact can’t be chosen; nor can supertypes such as legendary; nor can subtypes that aren’t creature types, such as Jace, Vehicle, or Treasure.
