Stalactite Dagger fits best in **typal (tribal) synergy decks** that care about creatures being a specific type—or multiple types—such as Slivers, Allies, Humans, Zombies, or party-style decks, because it both creates a changeling token (which counts as every creature type) and makes the equipped creature all creature types, enabling lords and “whenever a [type] enters or attacks” triggers; it’s especially reasonable in casual Commander builds that want redundancy for creature-type synergies or need cheap changeling enablers. That said, it’s generally underpowered for competitive play: +1/+1 for 2 mana to cast and 2 to equip is inefficient compared to options like **Maskwood Nexus** (which gives all your creatures every creature type without needing to equip), **Universal Automaton** or **Realmwalker** for typal synergy, or stronger Equipment like **Skullclamp**, **Sword of the Animist**, or **Umezawa’s Jitte** that generate real card or board advantage.
