The Madcap Jester fits a Grixis Commander “theft/exile” deck that repeatedly exiles cards from opponents’ libraries, using effects such as `Gonti, Lord of Luxury`, `Thief of Sanity`, `Chaos Wand`, `Dauthi Voidwalker`, and similar cards to turn opponents’ decks into your hand; its mana flexibility makes casting stolen multicolored spells much easier. It is less effective in 60-card formats because it needs to attack, has no built-in evasion or immediate value beyond one card per opponent, and only gives a short window to use the cards. `Evelyn, the Covetous` is generally the better Grixis Commander for this strategy because she has flash, can trigger whenever a Vampire enters, and accumulates exiled cards rather than limiting access to a single turn cycle, while `Jeleva, Nephalia’s Scourge` is better if the goal is to cast opponents’ big spells for free.
