Dictation Quillograph würde gut in ein Deck passen, das sich auf Synergien beim Ziehen und Abwerfen von Karten konzentriert, wie z. B. ein Madness- oder Reanimator-Deck, bei dem Sie vom Ziehen und Abwerfen von Karten profitieren können, um Ihre Strategie voranzutreiben. Während es andere Karten gibt, die ähnliche Effekte bieten, wie z. B. Bident of Thassa, der Kartenziehen bei Kampfschaden ermöglicht, macht Dictation Quillographs Fähigkeit, diesen Effekt jeder Kreatur zu verleihen, ihn vielseitig einsetzbar. Im kompetitiven Spiel ist es jedoch möglicherweise kein Grundnahrungsmittel, da Decks häufig effizientere Kartenzieh-Engines oder Kreaturen mit integriertem Kartenvorteil bevorzugen. Insgesamt kann es in Gelegenheitsformaten oder bestimmten Builds eingesetzt werden, kann aber in wettbewerbsintensiveren Umgebungen unterlegen sein.
