Pearl Medallion, Artifact, designed by Sue Ellen Brown first released in Oct, 1997 in the set Tempest and was printed exactly in 7 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of A$ 4.45.
This card would be beneficial in a White-based deck that focuses on casting a lot of White spells, as it helps reduce the mana cost of those spells. However, there are better alternatives like [[Pearl Medallion]]'s counterparts such as [[Sapphire Medallion]] for Blue spells or [[Emerald Medallion]] for Green spells. Whether or not to include Pearl Medallion in a deck would depend on the specific strategy and synergy with other cards in the deck.

The generic X cost is still considered generic even if there is a requirement that a specific color be used for it. For example, “only black mana can be spent this way”. This distinction is important for effects which reduce the generic portion of a spell’s cost.
