About Mana Drain

Mana Drain, Instant, designed by Mark Tedin first released in May, 2020 in the set Legends and was printed exactly in 15 different ways. It see play in 2 formats: Commander and Timeless. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of A$ 49.50.

A control deck focused on disrupting the opponent's spells and generating additional mana could benefit from using Mana Drain. However, in competitive Magic: The Gathering, cards like Force of Will or Force of Negation may be considered better options due to their flexibility and immediate impact on the game. While Mana Drain has its niche uses, it may not see as much play in top-tier decks compared to other counter spells.

Rules

11/10/20

If the target spell is an illegal target by the time Mana Drain tries to resolve, Mana Drain doesn’t resolve. You don’t add mana at the beginning of your next main phase. If the target is legal but not countered (most likely because an effect says that the spell can’t be countered), you do add mana.
