Splatter Technique would fit best in a blue-red (Izzet) control or spellslinger deck that can reliably hit five mana with heavy color requirements (1UURR) and that benefits from flexible modal spells—either refilling its hand or sweeping the board. Control decks that stall early with counterspells and removal would appreciate the option to draw four cards at instant-speed power level (though this is a sorcery) or clear away small-to-medium creatures and planeswalkers in go-wide or midrange metas. However, five mana for either effect is generally inefficient compared to existing options: **Draw four cards** is weaker than *Memory Deluge*, *Dig Through Time*, or even *Fact or Fiction* in many formats, and **4 damage to each creature and planeswalker** is often worse than *Storm's Wrath*, *Burn Down the House*, or *Depopulate* depending on colors.
