About Generous Gift

Generous Gift, Instant, designed by Kev Walker first released in May, 2019 in the set Modern Horizons and was printed exactly in 19 different ways. It see play in 1 formats: Commander. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of 0.26.

This card would be beneficial in a white-based control deck that aims to remove key permanents from the opponent's board while also providing them with a less threatening creature. However, there are better options like Swords to Plowshares or Path to Exile that offer more efficient removal without giving the opponent a creature in return. Generous Gift could see play in certain situations where the Elephant token is not a significant drawback, but it may not be a staple in competitive decks due to the existence of stronger removal options.

If the target permanent is an illegal target by the time Generous Gift tries to resolve, the spell doesn’t resolve. No player creates an Elephant. If the target is legal but not destroyed (most likely because it has indestructible), its controller does create an Elephant.
