Blightspeaker

About Blightspeaker

Blightspeaker, Creature — human rebel cleric, designed by Ron Spears first released in February 2007 in the set Planar Chaos and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.50.

Blightspeaker is best suited to a casual or Commander Rebel-tribal deck—especially Orzhov (white-black) Rebels—because it can tutor any Rebel permanent with mana value 3 or less, while its tap ability provides minor life-drain value; however, paying {4} and tapping it for each search is quite slow, so it is unlikely to see competitive play and is only a modest inclusion in most Rebel lists. Stronger Rebel engines include **Lin Sivvi, Defiant Hero**, which searches more efficiently and can recycle Rebels, and **Ramosian Sergeant**, which costs only {W} and begins the Rebel chain much earlier, though it searches for a lower mana value; **Amrou Scout** and **Defiant Falcon** are also generally better in dedicated white Rebel decks. Blightspeaker is worth playing mainly if you specifically want black access, extra redundancy, or a flavorful casual Rebel deck, but otherwise it should usually be replaced by faster Rebel tutors.
