Captain's Defense

About Captain's Defense

Captain's Defense, Instant, designed by Mark Spears first released in June 2026 in the set Marvel Super Heroes Commander. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.82.

**Captain’s Defense** fits best in a white aggressive or go‑wide creature deck that expects to block profitably—such as white weenie, token-based strategies, or limited (Draft/Sealed) decks—because it can swing combat math while replacing itself, making it solid in Limited where combat tricks plus card draw are strong. However, in Constructed formats it is generally too weak and reactive; better options include **Sheltering Light**, **Gods Willing**, or **Tamiyo’s Safekeeping** (for protection), **Brave the Elements** in mono-white aggro, or even stronger combat tricks like **Valorous Stance** which provide more impactful effects. While the cantrip makes it playable in Limited, it is unlikely to see competitive Constructed play unless the format heavily rewards defensive combat tricks with card draw.
