About Confront the Unknown

Confront the Unknown, Instant, designed by Kev Walker first released in April 2016 in the set Shadows over Innistrad and was printed exactly in 2 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 0.52.

Confront the Unknown would be beneficial in a green deck that focuses on generating and utilizing Clue tokens, as it provides a temporary power boost to a creature based on the number of Clues you control. While it can be a decent inclusion in a Clue-themed deck, there are potentially better cards like Oath of Nissa or Trail of Evidence that offer more consistent value or card advantage. Whether Confront the Unknown sees play would depend on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck, as well as the overall power level of the format it is being played in.

Rules

04/08/2016

Clue is an artifact type. Even though it appears on some cards with other permanent types, it's never a creature type, a land type, or anything but an artifact type.

04/08/2016

If an effect refers to a Clue, it means any Clue artifact, not just a Clue artifact token. For example, you can sacrifice Wrench to pay for Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth's activated ability.

04/08/2016

No player may take any action in between the two steps of Confront the Unknown, so the target creature will get at least +1/+1.

04/08/2016

You can't sacrifice a Clue to pay multiple costs. For example, you can't sacrifice a Clue token to activate its own ability and also to activate Alquist Proft, Master Sleuth's ability.

04/08/2016

You can’t cast a spell without choosing legal targets. If all of those targets become illegal, the spell doesn’t resolve and you won’t investigate.
