This Darkwatch Elves card would be beneficial in a green-based deck that aims to have protection from black spells and creatures, possibly in a meta where black is prevalent. While the cycling ability provides card advantage, there may be better options like Thrun, the Last Troll or Obstinate Baloth for similar effects with additional benefits, making Darkwatch Elves less likely to see play in competitive Magic: The Gathering decks.
