"DIY Golem", Sorcery — lesson, designed by Rimas Valeikis first released in Apr, 2026 in the set Secrets of Strixhaven and was printed exactly in 2 different ways.
“DIY Golem” (5WW, Sorcery — Lesson) would fit best in a slow, grindy white-based midrange or control deck—especially one that can access Lessons via Learn—because it reanimates any nonland permanent, letting you bring back powerful threats like planeswalkers, large creatures, or key artifacts/enchantments; it would be most at home in Commander or a white control shell that expects long games and has high-impact targets worth reanimating. However, at seven mana and sorcery speed, it’s inefficient compared to stronger options like **Resurrection** (4 mana), **Invoke Justice** (5 mana and adds counters), **Brilliant Restoration** (mass enchantment/artifact return), or especially **Reanimate**, **Animate Dead**, and **Persist** in other colors, which are dramatically cheaper; even in mono-white Commander, **Sevinne’s Reclamation** or **Sun Titan** often provide better value. As a result, unless you specifically need it as a Lesson target or want redundancy in a dedicated reanimator/control
