About Donatello, Turtle Techie

Donatello, Turtle Techie, Legendary creature — mutant ninja turtle, designed by Ryan Valle first released in Feb, 2026 in the set Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Donatello, Turtle Techie (3U) fits best in a blue-based artifact deck—especially Commander builds that consistently run mana rocks, equipment, or value artifacts—because it reliably replaces itself when you already have an artifact, making it a low-risk value creature in artifact-centric midrange or tempo shells. Decks like Urza, Chief Artificer; Urza, Lord High Artificer; or Emry, Lurker of the Loch would make better use of it than generic blue decks, since they naturally enable the draw trigger and often care about artifact synergies. That said, a four-mana creature that only draws one card on entry (and only conditionally) is fairly underpowered compared to staples like Mulldrifter (which guarantees cards and has flexibility), Thought Monitor (often cheaper in artifact decks and draws two), or even Vedalken Archmage in heavy artifact builds, which can generate far more value over time. As a result, Donatello is playable in casual or themed Ninja Turtle/artifact decks but is unlikely
