A deck that focuses on graveyard recursion and sacrificing creatures would benefit from including Dread Defiler, as it provides a repeatable source of life loss for the opponent. However, there are potentially better options for this effect, such as Kokusho, the Evening Star, which has a similar ability but also gains you life when it dies. Whether Dread Defiler should see play depends on the specific strategy and synergies of the deck, as well as the overall power level of the format in which it is being played.
