This card, Erosion, would be beneficial in a control deck that aims to disrupt the opponent's mana base and slow down their game plan. While Erosion can be effective at disrupting the opponent's resources, there are better options like Blood Moon or Back to Basics that have a more immediate impact on the opponent's lands. Erosion could see play in certain metagames where mana denial is crucial, but in most cases, more efficient options would be preferred.
