Generous Revival fits best in token‑based, graveyard‑value, or midrange creature decks in white/white‑splash colors that want to reuse a key 1–3 mana creature (especially Humans, Soldiers, or any deck built around a recursive anthem like Mayor of Avabruck, Bishop of Wings, or a flyer such as Skyclave Apparition) while getting a small power boost from the +1/+1 counter to push it out of removal range; in a tokens shell it's a fine extra reanimation spell to complement the more popular recursion tools like Recruiter of the Guard, Saffron Erikson, and Nightmare Erikson, but it doesn't beat dedicated reanimation staples (Animate Dead, Reanimate, or Ephemerate for blink effects) in raw power, and it sees no play in Modern/Pioneer/Historic cEDH because better, cheaper, or more flexible options (e.g., Portable Hole, March of Otherworldly Light, or actual reanimation spells) exist, so it's mostly a casual/limited or pet‑deck card rather than a competitive one.
