This card, Grave Peril, would be beneficial in a black control deck that aims to control the board by removing threats as they enter the battlefield. While Grave Peril can be effective in certain situations, there are more versatile removal options like Fatal Push or Murder that are more commonly played in competitive decks due to their flexibility and efficiency. If a nonblack creature enters the battlefield and Grave Peril triggers, then another nonblack creature enters the battlefield, Grave Peril will trigger again and destroy only the last creature to enter the battlefield.
