Greater Morphling

About Greater Morphling

Greater Morphling, Creature — shapeshifter, designed by Greg “Six-Pack” Staples first released in November 2004 in the set Unhinged and was printed exactly in 3 different ways. It's currently being selled by the minimum price of C$ 1.18.

Greater Morphling would fit best in a casual mono-blue control, shapeshifter, or Commander deck that can reliably reach eight mana and wants a flexible threat, since it can gain evasion, protection, combat abilities, power/toughness changes, and untap itself; however, its abilities are individually expensive, it has no immediate impact when cast, and spending two mana for each effect makes it inefficient compared with modern threats. Aetherling is generally better because it can become unblockable, gain protection, and blink itself for only one mana, while Morphling is cheaper and more mana-efficient; cards such as Sphinx of Jwar Isle, Torrential Gearhulk, or Hullbreaker Horror are also stronger competitive options depending on the deck. Greater Morphling should see play only in casual or Un-set environments for its novelty and versatility, not in competitive Constructed play, and its expansion-symbol and artist-changing abilities are generally not meaningful or legal in normal sanctio
