About Guidance Failure
Guidance Failure, Instant, designed by David Álvarez first released in Aug, 2026 in the set Star Trek.
Guidance Failure best fits blue tempo or control decks, especially in Limited or Commander, where putting a large attacking creature (or a Spacecraft) on top of its owner's library for `2U` creates a major tempo swing and can deny the opponent their next draw; it is also a clean answer to indestructible creatures and death triggers. At four mana against nonattackers it is generally inefficient for Constructed, and even at its discount it competes poorly with cheaper interaction: `Fading Hope`, `Into the Flood Maw`, and `Brazen Borrower` are better when simply bouncing a creature is enough, while `Aether Gust` is substantially better against red or green targets because it costs only `1U` and similarly sends the card to the top or bottom. It should be a reasonable Limited playable and a situational Commander option for decks that value instant-speed library disruption, but is unlikely to see meaningful competitive Constructed play unless a Spacecraft-heavy metagame makes its extra targe
