Hawkeye’s Shot is a solid removal spell for slower white-based control or midrange decks that can reliably interact at instant speed or in combat to ensure creatures become tapped (for example, by forcing attacks or using tap effects), letting you cast it for 2W instead of 4W; however, at five mana base cost and sorcery speed, it’s inefficient compared to staples like **Swords to Plowshares** and **Path to Exile** (both one mana and instant speed), **Fateful Absence** (two mana instant), **Lay Down Arms** in mono-white, or even **The Wandering Emperor** in control shells, all of which provide cheaper or more flexible removal. While the exile clause is strong and the conditional discount is relevant against aggressive decks that attack, the sorcery speed and conditional nature make it generally inferior to existing options in most competitive formats, so it would likely only see play in limited environments, budget builds, or very niche Standard/Commander metas rather than optimized com
